This calculator gives an indication. Only your tax return and your own books are decisive.

How does it work?

Your business costs come off your revenue first; what remains is your profit. The self-employed deduction and the SME profit exemption come off that, and you pay income tax over what is left. On top of that comes the income-related Zvw healthcare contribution, which entrepreneurs pay themselves.

The deductions are not expenses: you keep that money, they only lower the amount you are taxed on. That is why this tool calculates your net figure from your profit and not from your taxable profit.

Frequently asked questions

Why is this an estimate?
The tool assumes this is your only income. A salaried job, a tax partner, a home you own, an annuity or a disability insurance premium all move the outcome — sometimes by thousands of euros.
What is the hours criterion?
Work at least 1,225 hours a year on your business and you qualify for the self-employed deduction and the starter's deduction. Miss those hours and both disappear, so you keep less.
Should I set money aside for tax?
Yes. The gap between your profit and your net figure is what you will owe later. Put that aside monthly in a separate account and spring holds no surprises.
