Built by one person. And that is exactly the point.
Katsjing is designed, built and maintained by one person. No investors, no sales department, no ticket queue. You notice that in two places: in the price, and in how quickly things get sorted. There is nobody standing between you and the maker.
Let us be honest: that carries a risk too
What if the maker gets hit by the proverbial bus tomorrow? With software from a single person that is a fair question — and most small vendors mainly hope you never ask it. We would rather turn it around: we built Katsjing so that you do not have to take our word for it. You can check it.
Your bookkeeping sits with you, every month
Every month Katsjing automatically writes a complete backup of your bookkeeping to storage that you choose and control: your own OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox, your own Nextcloud or Synology, or any other storage that speaks WebDAV or S3. No locked-in data, no export request needed, no dependence on us being around.
Your backup contains everything, in open formats that any accounting package and any bookkeeper can read:
- all your invoices as PDF and as UBL (e-invoice)
- your customers, expenses and uploaded receipts
- your bank transactions and VAT summaries as CSV
- a readme describing exactly what is in there
That way you automatically meet your seven-year statutory retention obligation — even if Katsjing were to disappear tomorrow.
You decide where your backup lands
Five kinds of storage, all of them yours. You connect one, and you can always switch later.
OneDrive
Sign in with your Microsoft account and you're done. Katsjing only writes inside the Apps/Katsjing folder.
Google Drive
Sign in with your Google account. We create a single Katsjing folder and only see what we put there ourselves.
Dropbox
Sign in with your Dropbox account. We only reach the Apps/Katsjing folder.
Nextcloud, Synology, STACK and other WebDAV storage
Your own NAS or server too. Works with any storage that speaks WebDAV: Nextcloud, ownCloud, TransIP STACK, Synology and Strato. You enter an address and an app password.
S3 storage
For anyone who already has object storage or wants the cheapest option: Backblaze B2, AWS, Wasabi, Cloudflare R2, Scaleway, Hetzner or MinIO. Use a key that may only write into that one bucket.
With OneDrive, Google Drive and Dropbox, Katsjing can only write inside its own folder — the rest of your files are literally invisible to us. And we never delete old backups from your storage.
How it works
Choose your storage
OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, your own Nextcloud or Synology, or S3 storage.
Connect it once
With OneDrive, Google Drive and Dropbox you sign in with your account and Katsjing only writes inside its own folder. With Nextcloud, Synology or S3 you enter an address and an app password — no app registration needed on our side.
Done
A new backup appears every month. You can also create one by hand at any time, for instance before you file your VAT return.
Nothing belongs to the software vendor. Everything belongs to you.
That is how it should be, in our view. With Katsjing you rent a tool, not a prison. Cancel, and you simply take everything with you. Something happens to the maker, and your bookkeeping is already in your own hands.
Questions about how this is arranged? You get an answer from the maker himself.
