For associations, foundations and churches

Bookkeeping for organisations that make no profit but do account for every euro

An association, foundation or church counts differently from a business: membership fees instead of invoices, gifts instead of revenue, a general meeting or church council that sets the budget, and an audit committee that reads everything back. Katsjing is built for that. The foundation is free in every plan; if you also want to track gifts, funds and volunteers, you add the add-on.

Sound familiar?

Three situations every treasurer and church warden knows.

  • The previous treasurer kept everything in Excel

After the handover you are left with a spreadsheet only your predecessor understood, and an audit committee asking where last year's fees went. Katsjing keeps members, board, entries and history in one place, and hands your successor a complete handover file.

  • Church pledges live in a separate file next to the books

Who pledged what, who has already paid, and how much came in for the organ? As long as that sits outside your bookkeeping, the two never match. With the add-on, pledges, gifts and funds live inside your administration, and a gift lands on the right account straight away.

  • The ANBI form has to be retyped by hand every year

The tax authority wants your figures in a fixed layout that is not your ledger's. Katsjing fills in the standard form from your own bookkeeping and publishes it as a public page: the publication duty in one click, with figures that tie in with your annual accounts.

Free in every plan

The foundation: already included

No association has to add this on. It works on the free plan, on ZZP and on Onderneming, without any add-on.

  • Membership administration with fees per member type

Senior, junior, family, student, honorary member: each member gets their own rate, and one recurring template sends every member their own fee invoice, with direct debit if you want. A gym or music school uses the same module for monthly or yearly subscriptions. Katsjing works out cancellations from your membership year and notice period.

  • Board, handover and audit committee

Record who sits on the board and since when. Give your audit committee read access with an end date, without it costing a paid seat. And when you hand over the treasury, one button produces a complete handover file, with a recovery procedure for when the previous owner cannot be reached.

  • ANBI publication duty in one click

Katsjing fills in the Dutch tax authority's standard form from your own bookkeeping, checkable per heading, and publishes it as a public page under your own name. Every financial year stays reachable next to the previous one, and the annual statement per donor is included.

  • Exempt organisation and budget

If your activities are VAT-exempt (article 11), switch that on and VAT disappears from your documents, with the legal notice on them. You record a budget per financial year that appears as a third column next to your figures, and your reports speak of income and expenditure instead of revenue and profit.

Add-on Associations & foundations

Gifts, funds, volunteers and grants

Everything to do with giving, in one module you add to a paid plan.

€19.99 per month or €200.00 per year

Excl. VAT. Added to ZZP or Onderneming, cancellable at the end of your period.

  • Record donations per person

Who gave what, when and for what, with a balanced entry on your gifts account and no VAT. A collection without a sender is recorded as an anonymous gift. From your bank statement it is one click.

  • Public donation page with iDEAL

Put a donate button on your own website. The donor picks an amount, pays with iDEAL or credit card, and the gift is booked automatically. Recurring giving works with a SEPA mandate the donor can stop themselves.

  • Funds for earmarked gifts

A gift for the organ or for emergency relief is not freely spendable. Set up a fund for it, follow progress towards the target and, at year end, book the allocation to your restricted funds on the balance sheet.

  • Campaigns and church pledges

The annual church appeal, the roof appeal, the summer collection: record per campaign what was pledged and what was received, and see the two side by side. A pledge is a promise and never enters your books.

  • Periodic gift agreement

For ANBIs: record a periodic gift with a transaction number, print the tax authority's form in your own branding and store the signed scan. Katsjing stores no citizen service number; the donor fills that in on paper.

  • Donation reporting

How much came in, from how many donors, who is new and who has stopped. Per month, per fund and per campaign, with a check that your gift register ties in with your ledger.

  • Volunteers and the tax-free allowance

Who helps out, since when, and when the conduct certificate expires. Record allowances paid out and see per volunteer whether you stay within the legal maximums per hour, per month and per year.

  • Grant management

From application to final decision: who grants it, how much was awarded, what was received and when you must account for it. You get a reminder before the deadline, and grants sit apart from gifts, exactly as the ANBI publication requires.

  • Public donor list with consent

Thank your donors on your ANBI page or your own website, showing only the names of those who gave consent. Withdrawing works immediately, and anonymous gifts never appear.

If you cancel the add-on, everything you recorded stays readable: your gifts, funds, volunteers and grants remain in your books and do not disappear. You just cannot add anything new. Your ANBI publication and board register work without the add-on anyway.

No VAT on gifts, and Katsjing gets that right

A gift is not a payment for something you delivered, so there is no invoice and it does not enter your VAT return. Katsjing therefore books a gift without VAT on its own income account, so it stays separately visible for your ANBI publication and annual report.

  • A gift or collection: no VAT, no invoice, but a balanced entry.
  • If something is given in return, such as a logo on the shirt or advertising along the pitch, it is sponsorship: ordinary revenue with a sales invoice.
  • A grant is booked on its own account, separate from gifts, without VAT.

Frequently asked questions

Can I work as a church without a Chamber of Commerce link?
Yes. A Chamber of Commerce number is not required to start: members, gifts, board and publication all work without it. If you do enter your number, Katsjing recognises your legal form, uses association terms in your reports (income and expenditure instead of revenue and profit) and shows the setting for VAT exemption.
Does this satisfy the ANBI publication duty?
Katsjing fills in the tax authority's standard form from your own bookkeeping, lets you check per heading which accounts fall into it, and publishes it as a public, findable page. You decide when to publish. The content of your policy plan and the correctness of your classification remain your own responsibility.
What does it cost, and what is free?
Membership administration, board and handover, the ANBI publication and the budget are free in every plan, including the free plan. The Associations & foundations add-on costs €19.99 per month or €200.00 per year, excl. VAT, and is added to a paid plan.
Is there VAT on donations?
No. A gift is not payment for a service and falls outside VAT. Katsjing books it without VAT on its own gifts account. Mind the difference with sponsorship: if something is given in return, it is ordinary revenue with an invoice that carries VAT.
Can I cancel the add-on without losing my data?
Yes. Everything you recorded stays readable and stays in your books; you just cannot add new gifts, volunteers or grants. Your ANBI publication, board register and membership administration keep working regardless.
